wrote with my mind to pass the time

When you startled my eyes with

your too close, too solid

presence.

As if there was a string between your soul and mine

I was pulled to look deep into you

straight into you

trough you

There was no emotion.

Only clarity

honesty

reality.

For those seconds I floated in warm waters bright as sky

and in this bond I suppose my

soul walked into yours and

yours walked into mine.

Consciously I broke the link with a bemused smile

and that was that.

The mundane moved on.

But my soul had left a piece of itself behind, accidentally

or did you take it?

Thus wanting, always.

When I am near you, I am whole again. Only you.

Ever since that moment I’ve been searching for my missing piece

Restless til I have my peace.

Your emotion saturates my blood

that even my veins run red,

intoxicating as wine.

Our skins skim and

then melt by touch,

molding into each other

Fold into my my little lawn chair!

Take me into you

I think of nothing

am content because

with you I am complete

and no more thoughts are needed.

We live off of each other, and fill each other

and yes darling, why shouldn’t we laugh at each other?

That is enough for living

and say its over

I blink

a bomb blows out my guts

and my heart falls into the void

I am deafened by the shell shock

your mouth moves but only ringing follows

As you wring my soul out of yours.

This was supposed to be a goofier poem, but no one got it. Cows were originally involved.

in the midst of November

was a December grey

And across it

little clouds sleepwalked.

I navigated the familar path home

the light of the traffic in amusingly appropriate candycane colors

A Christmas tune plays on the radio

And awoke in me the past, in that way music can

by stirring one sense,awaken the all others.

From the hearing the song, I feltthe warmth of happy fires, smelled thescent of dark green trees, and tasted the meats and pies so lovingly prepared by hands much younger then.

I replayed the games that had been won so long ago, and told old jokes anew.

I cannot put into a simple quotable sentence what I felt at that moment,

but it is the common thread that makes the tale of noble Odyessus and the journey of  stray dogs immortal  in our hearts.

It had something to do with a lonely road

fellow companions coming and going

of warm bright lights

and a way towards Home.

Put on your face

before anyone sees you.

Blend and cover your real smile, your real furrows

the wrinkles of time and humor.

I stand on the other side, impatiently.

What do I care

if I see you half prepared?

I knock hurry up on the door

and it rings hollow.

Hollow like your brain.

pause

through half-closed eyes

a nacent smile

So much can be missed in a

blink

Darkness intensified the fragile chirps

- our childhood voices-

hidden in rough blankets.

We burrowed like rabbits

Made sandwiches with pillows

and laughed our way into sleep

(Not realizing that with each morning we were

growing up

growing apart)

The days dropped thick as snow

Slowly our footsteps became covered, hidden buried underneath time.

Made difficult the retracing of our path.

At home, I huddle

burrowed like a rabbit.

The wisp of a memory

burns a faded, smoky fire

and my eyes brim up with years.
